Roughly 31% of US adults attend religious services weekly or nearly weekly, down from 42% in the early 2000s. Another 57% now say they seldom or never go. It is not just attendance; more than twice as many Americans now say they have no religion at all, 21% compared to 9% two decades ago.
In Britain, 5% of adults attend a Christian service weekly, down from 8% in 2018. Another 66% never go. Among Britons over 70, 9% attend weekly, half the share in 2017.
