Canada exports more than 77% of what its auto industry builds, almost all of it to the US. That still adds up to only about 6% of the American market for finished vehicles. Count parts too and the flow reverses: Canada buys more from the US than it sells. In January 2027 the tariff on Canadian cars and parts rises from 25% to 50%.
