Nasdaq runs 16 hours a day, from 4am to 8pm. The opening and closing bells cover just 6.5 of those hours. From December 6, a new overnight session will stretch the trading hours to 23 hours, leaving the market closed only between 8pm and 9pm. Nasdaq wants the overnight hours to serve international investors and to compete with digital asset platforms, which trade around the clock.
Nasdaq trades 16 hours a day. From December it will trade 23, closing for just one hour a night.
