You're a new computer science grad applying for jobs. Out of 100 US software openings, how many are for senior roles?

69

Senior roles make up 69% of US software development postings, compared to just 4.5% that are entry-level. Across all US industries, 46% of postings are entry-level and 14% are senior. In personal care and home health, 91% are entry-level.

Graduating into a weak hiring market does lasting damage. Economists tracking cohorts who entered during downturns find their wages stay below those of luckier cohorts for up to a decade, even after the economy recovers.

Nearly 70% of US software job postings are for senior roles. Only 5% are entry-level.
