Forever chemicals are thousands of synthetic compounds that almost nothing in nature can break down. They showed up in 90% of paper straw brands and in 75% of the plastic ones they were meant to replace. PFOA, the one found most often in these straws, is the compound used to make Teflon pans and has been on the UN's elimination list since 2019.
