Corn syrup, corn oil, corn starch, corn-fed beef. Out of 100 US corn acres, how many are genetically engineered?

94
94% of US corn acres are planted with genetically engineered seed, first sold to American farmers in 1996. Most of that corn is engineered twice over, tolerating weedkiller and making its own insecticide. In the European Union, one insect-resistant maize covers less than 1% of the maize crop.
The National Academies reviewed more than 1,000 studies and found no substantiated evidence that engineered crops carry different health risks than conventional ones. Almost none of that corn is eaten as corn anyway; it becomes ethanol, animal feed, syrup and starch.
