98% of the 162,000 jobs the US added in August went to women. That's 158,000 for women, and 4,000 for men. Nearly all the hiring happened in restaurants, bars and school districts, where women already hold most of the jobs. In leisure and hospitality women picked up 68,000 positions while the sector grew by only 62,000, so men there lost 6,000.
Women now hold 80 million of the 159 million jobs on US payrolls, just over half, their largest share since January 2010.
98% of the jobs the US economy added in August went to women. Restaurant and school hiring drove most of it.
