Your child can have their own card on your American Express account. How young can they be in the US?

American Express will issue an additional card in a child's name at 13, the youngest fixed cutoff among the big US issuers. Discover draws the line at 15. Chase, Capital One, Citi and Bank of America set no minimum age at all, so a toddler can technically carry a card. Amex won't add the account to the child's credit file until they turn 18.

American Express starts at 13 in Canada too, but won't issue a supplementary card to anyone under 18 in the UK or Germany.
