The US Open garnishes its signature Honey Deuce cocktail with 2.3 million melon balls. How many honeydews does that take?

The US Open gets through 38,500 honeydew melons, each one scooped into about 60 melon balls. Every Honey Deuce cocktail gets three of them on a plastic skewer, meant to look like tennis balls. One family farm in Turlock, California has supplied the US Open with every melon since the cocktail was invented.

Wimbledon has the same tradition with a different fruit. The All England Club gets through more than 1.9 million strawberries each summer, all of them grown at a single farm in Kent.

Every Honey Deuce at the US Open gets three melon balls on a skewer, cut to look like tennis balls. That takes 38,500 honeydews.
